Come celebrate college authors!

Mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate college authors!

The Office of the Provost and Musselman Library invite all Gettysburg College faculty, administrators, and staff to the annual College Authors Reception, scheduled for Friday, February 16th. The reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Apse on the Main Floor of the Library. Students may attend by invitation from college author honorees.

This year, the College Authors Reception will also serve as the week's Friday Afternoon Social Hour, so it is not to be missed!

College authors - including faculty, administrators, staff, and students - will be in attendance. Examples of their publications will be on display as well. So come join the Provost's Office and the Library in celebrating the achievements of Gettysburg College authors.

See you there!

These are the days of our trials...

Musselman Library is continually on the lookout for new databases and digital collections to help support the curriculum of Gettysburg College. Since many electronic resources carry a **BIG** price tag, vendors sometimes allow us to trial databases before we sign on the dotted line. This is where you come in!

We always appreciate your feedback on the databases that we are currently reviewing. Our featured trial databases include:
- CQ Press Political Reference Suite
- Omnifile Full Text
- Scopus
- Women Writers Online

To view a description of these databases or to give them a test run, go to

And don't forget to tell us your thoughts on the webform available at

Thank you and happy trials!

Departmental self-studies? The library can help!

Got a departmental self-study pending? One part of the self-study process involves describing and evaluating library holdings.

Here's where the library can help. We regularly provide departments with a wealth of information on research support for your program, including highlights of the collection, budget and information literacy statistics, journals and databases, and library services that support curricular needs.

In addition, library staff are happy to meet with external review teams to talk with them about library resources and services in support of your program.
How to start? Contact your friendly librarian liaison to get the library involved. For a list of librarian liaisons, visit

Remember the library!

Do you have tenure-track candidates coming to campus? Don't forget to have the library be part of your agenda. The library is more than happy to participate in candidates' Gettysburg experience. Librarians are available to provide tours of the facilities or meet with candidates to discuss library resources, instruction, and more! If you're interested, please contact your librarian liaison--
