Lincoln is here!

Lincoln is here, and we couldn't be happier! The traveling exhibit Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War arrived last week, and was installed quickly by a very dedicated group of Musselman librarians.

The exhibit kicked off with a lively and well-attended reception on Friday February 22nd,

accompanied by music from the Civil War Era performed by professor Larry Marschall.

Funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the exhibition examines President Lincoln's struggle to meet both the political and Constitutional challenges brought on by the Civil War. Organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association, the exhibit is proudly co-hosted by Musselman Library and the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee.

The exhibit will only be with us until April 4th; don't miss your chance to see it!

Show Musselman Library Some Love!

This Thursday is Valentines Day and the library will be setting up in the CUB over the lunch hour (11-1 P.M.) for our annual celebration of Library Loves Students. As usual we will be asking students to give Musselman a Valentine and tell us why they love the library. If you can't make it on Thursday never fear! There will be an opportunity to share your love of the library Thursday afternoon on the main floor. Also, this year we've set up an online Library Loves Students form. All of those that participate will be entered in a drawing for three $10 iTunes gift cards. So, share the love!

Black History Month at Gettysburg College

This year Gettysburg College is focusing on the theme Love Who You Want: Exploring Sexuality, Gender, and Race from the African-American Perspective as part of February’s Black History Month celebration.  In addition to the many events that will be taking place on campus, there is a book display on the main floor of Musselman Library exploring this theme.  There are also titles selected by English Professor McKinley E. Melton representing some of the outstanding works honoring Black History Month overall.

Special thanks to: Monique L. Mathews ’06, Office of Student Activities & First-Year Programs, and Librarians Jeremy Garskof and Jessica Howard for helping with this display.

Are you a graduating senior interested in a career in library and information studies?  If so, you're in luck!

Musselman Library is searching for a motivated and responsible candidate for our full-time, one-year paid internship (with benefits!).  The internship is intended for a recent college graduate (or one who will graduate this spring) interested in pursuing a career in information science, librarianship, or archives and records management.   Previous interns have gone on to complete graduate degrees in library and information studies and are now working as information professionals.  This is a great way to gain experience while considering librarianship as a profession!

Application materials can be submitted through the HR on-line system: http://gettysburg.peopleadmin.com/postings/512.  This position will remain open through February 22, 2013.
